Digital learning is changing the future of education

Digital education has evolved to encompass a plethora of pedagogies nowadays. The EdTech industry has been on the rise providing digital learning platforms, assisting material toward blended learning, and even AI-driven test modules. This rise has also been partly due to the global COVID-19 pandemic which has accelerated the rhythm in which digital learning is being adopted worldwide. The OECD claims that “global expenditure in the EdTech industry is predicted to grow from USD 163 billion in 2019 to USD 404 billion in 2025”.

With this rapid advance of digital learning, also come the pedagogies of the future. For example, gamification which was perceived in the past as an absurd concept it is now being embraced by many teachers worldwide. The INDEED project also aims to support the advancement of digital learning through the work it is doing.

Since digital learning is the future of education, it has received support through multiple initiatives. The European Commission had funded several initiatives in regards to digital learning and they include:

  • Increased digital competence
  • The incorporation of data analysis and foresight into education
  • Higher adoption rates of digital technology across schools and educational institutions
